Repeal DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act)

Back

(Sacramento) California Assemblymember Julia Brownley (D-Santa Monica) is calling on her fellow state lawmakers to send a strong message to Congress regarding DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act. Assemblymember Brownley has authored Joint Resolution 19, which calls on the federal government to immediately repeal the measure put on the books in 1996 because it excludes same sex couple who have been legally married. Assemblymember Brownley says the federal government should not be in the business of legalized discrimination. Learn more about Assemblymember Brownleys effort in this Assembly Access video.
