I moved to the Upstate of South Carolina from Florida and when I saw Main Street in downtown Greenville, my mouth dropped open. I thought it was one of the best kept places to visit in America. With it's European style indoor/outdoor restaurantes and boutiques lining Main St. with pedestrians all around, it's amost a fariytale. On each side of Main Street are sidewalks so wide that they can accommodate parking, cafe tables with umbrellas, trees, sitting areas and a maze of brick planters with seasonal plants. And there are large public benches everywhere. On Friday nights, they block traffic so that people can walk around and mix and mingle with a glass of wine in their hand while listening to an open air live jazz band. Main Street is seldom without live music. While enjoying the ambiance, it just gets better and better. You'll notice that Main Street has trees with twinkling lights on their branches year round. The jewel of the Main Street downtown area in Greenville is Reedy Rivers Falls Park. A breathtaking river flows right under Main Street next to the Peach Center which hosts live cultural events and even travelling Broadway shows. On one side of Main is a multi million dollar suspension walking bridge which is loved by all. It is at this point that dramatic falls break with rapids and crashing water on the rocks below. Lovers, families and their pets decorate the area and make this one of the best city attractions in any city in the United States.
